How is that a dick move? he bought the $17 plan for this exact reason, it broke, he got a refund, and the company that made it just so happened to have a 30 day warranty, what he did is completely legal and i would've done the same thing.

Yeah K-Mart fails. The one near my house just got tore down. Probably because they didn't have much business.

this is in no way a dick move, definitely a clutch move if anything lol.
its called milking the system. little loopholes that help people out. yes it may not be the nicest thing to do but companies make so much money off of certain products that for this to happen every now and then its not a big deal.

anyone else here old enough to remember Bradlees, Caldor and Woolworths? they (and KMart) were the bomb back in the early 90s. I used to shoplift from Bradlees when I was a kid, good thing they went out a few years later (bad, bad, bad - lol)

That is so funny. Sadly, I've done similar things even though I know it's wrong. Once I bought a load of porcelain tile (about $1200 worth) from home depot and I had a piece of plywood standing up on the cart (the flat type of cart) with $400 worth of tile on one side and $800 worth on the other side of the plywood (you had to walk around the cart to scan it all. Well, the cashier didn't ring up the side with the $800 worth of tile and I walked out.

In an odd move, I walked back in with receipt and told them they forgot to ring me up for all the other tiles. It was really ignorant on their part as the cart was so heavy I could barley push it (and I'm 250 lbs). They said, "oh" and rang me up. I'm still torn about making the right decision cause I could use $800 right now. There have been plenty of times I didn't correct their mistake and basically stole by not correcting under trained idiot cashiers. Also, I almost never pay for movies, I just walk in and if they don't ask for my ticket I just go watch the movie. I gotta grow a spine or I'm going to Hell too.

I live in a city where our two Kmarts are really, REALLY nice. They were selected a couple years ago to be a part of a new store design. They shut the doors for about a month and ripped it apart. The biggest improvement was that they took down all the high shelving so you could see from one side of the store to the other. Martha Stewart stuff was all over the place. They have price checker/internet ordering terminals all over the store. Although they're gone now, they even had about a half dozen public internet kiosks set up for public use. Even now, Kmart here has a very polished look (even better than Target).

Not going to nitpick, but some of these stories (like w00tsauce's) are undisputed cases of retail theft. Just sayin'.

Sorry, but who exactly was the dick in this case? Ever heard of a price scanner?

Most of these departments store employees seem to just not care, like the guy who got away with one payment on his layaway item. The employees aren't losing any money, so what does it matter to them?

I've had problems with K-mart, so I stopped going there for a couple years now...

We bought another Xbox 360 for a present for my little brother, but it had obviously been a used Xbox 360, cause when we opened it the packaging was torn but put together with tape... We attempted to use it and it started scratching disks, and the screen would go green. The next day we went back to return it and they said we couldn't, we called their headquarters and everything and finally got them to return it. We then simply went to Costco and bought a NEW Xbox with two games for the same price...
