How to get Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Professional Plus!

This is pre-release software, so please read the following to get an idea of the risks and key things you need to know before you try the Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta.

Protect your PC and data. Be sure to back up your data and please don’t test Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta on your primary home or business PC.

Uninstall any previous versions of Microsoft Office. We highly recommend that previous versions of Microsoft Office be removed from your test machine before installing Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta.

Technical details/updates. Before installing the Beta please read the Release Notes.

Keep up with the news. You can keep up with general technical information and news by participating in the Microsoft Office 2010 Forum (on TechNet) and reading the Microsoft Office 2010 Team Blog.

Keep your PC updated. Be sure to turn on automatic updates in Windows Update in case we publish updates for the Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta.

Microsoft Partners. Learn more about Office Professional Plus 2010 on the Microsoft Partner Portal.


Here’s what you need to have: (taken from the site.)


Internet access. Internet access (to download Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta and get updates)

* 500 MHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor or higher
* 256 MB of system memory or more
* 3.5 GB of available disk space
* 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor
* DVD-R/W Drive

* Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 3 (32-bit)
* Windows Vista with SP1 (32-bit or 64-bit)
* Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-bit or 64-bit) with MSXLM 6.0 installed
* Windows Server 2008 with SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit)
* Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
* Terminal Server and windows on Windows (WOW) (which allows installing 32-bit versions of Office 2010 on 64-bit operating systems) are supported.

So let's get started!

First, click on Get It Now as shown in the picture below:



You will now be taken to a page to log into Microsoft Windows Live as shown below:



Sign in with your Windows Live ID, and you will be taken to a page where they ask for some information like so:



Put your First Name, Last Name, Email, and for the other information they ask for like your job, etc. just put anything and pick NO to Is your company or organization a Microsoft Partner? then press Continue.

You will now be ask to Verify Ownership of your email, simple go to hotmail.com (you should already still be signed in) and go to your Inbox and click the email, then the link inside.



Now you will see E-Mail Verification Complete and press Continue.

You will now be taken to the page with the Key and Download link found at the bottom on the page. It is also important you follow the steps shown to activate the product after you finish installing it.



I reccommend writing down the Key somewhere before you Download!

Now go to the bottom of the page, select your Language under download the 32-bit (reccomended) or 64-bit.



You will then be taken to the Microsoft Downloader, and be asked to save the installation setup somewhere, do so.

Once its done downloading, install it. (Sorry no screenshots as per I have it already.)

Now follow the steps to activate as said above.



Once your key is verified and you press Continue, you will be asked to Install Now again, just press it, its only a Configuration that takes about 1-3 minutes.

Now Enjoy!!

Although it is a beta, it is extremely stable in real-life use, and I even created a PPT using the beta for class.
