PSP 2000 is your best choice. It is permanently softmodable, whereas the 3000 you need to use a .tif exploit every time you want to run homebew. Also, the screen on the 3000 is known to produce motion blur when playing older games because Sony's idea of making a screen brighter is simply to make the blue diodes larger and turn them way up.

PSP 1000 is known as the Phat psp
PSP 2000& 3000 is the slim
the 1000 can be permanently hacked using homebrew and pandora battery but its an outdated model and its big and imho its ugly
the 2000/3000 can be hacked using chickhen or gen homebrew. but its isnt permanent and might not be able to all the new psp iso or cso that come out.
i personally ahve the 3000 and its nice. its alot smaller, looks cleaner compared to the 1000. i get to play prety much any game i wanna play on it so it works for me.
get a 2000/3000 not a 1000

I'd go with the PSP 2000, cause the 3000 is not completely hackable. Though one version of the PSP 2000 isn't either the ones with the new TA-088v3 boards. They are still however Partialaly hackable as the 3000 are. Though if you do get the psp 3000 with the lastest firmware you are outta luck, I think version 6.00 and on, for now. If hacking isn't what you want it for and just playng games, I'd go with the 3000 cause it has a better screen. The 3000 is known as the Brite.

I think 2000 is the best, its lighter and has more capabilities than the 1000, but the screen doesnt look bad in the sun like the 3000
